Bài xã luận ngày thứ Bảy 14/5 của New York Times, một trong những tờ báo lớn nhất và uy tín nhất của Mỹ (và thế giới), cho rằng chưa nên bỏ toàn toàn lệnh cấm bán vũ khí sát thương cho VN vì:
"Given Hanoi’s authoritarian ways, though, this is not the time to lift the ban completely. The Communist Party controls all institutions in Vietnam, permits no free elections, holds over 100 political prisoners and has yet to meet its obligations under the new trade agreement to allow labor unions."
Nếu bài này viết muộn thêm một ngày chắc Editorial Board của NYT phải thêm lý do "..., brutally represses peaceful demonstrations on environmental issues,...", NYT vốn rất quan tâm đến các vấn đề môi trường.
PS. Các bạn DLV cẩn thận trước khi ném đá/công kích NYT nhé, đây là tờ báo có khuynh hướng cánh tả rất hay bênh vực/bảo vệ VN.
